About the 2nd Annual Gansett Relays - India Point Five - 4 x 800m Relay
This relay event runs at India Point Park in Providence, with teams of four each taking a leg around the course. The heats are grouped by pace, so faster teams race against similar competition rather than getting swallowed by the field. It is coed, and the park setting along the waterfront gives it an open, uncluttered feel.
Narragansett Brewery is part of the post-race picture, with a complimentary drink waiting after the teams finish. The event is organized in partnership with Heartbreak Hill Running Company and Nike Running, so the infrastructure tends to be well run. Spots per heat are intentionally tight, which keeps things moving.
