About the Galloping Gertie
The course crosses the Tacoma Narrows Bridge, running the full span above Puget Sound. On a clear morning you can see Mount Rainier in one direction and the Olympic Mountains in the other, with the water far below. The bridge is the whole point of this race, and that stretch is unlike anything you will find on a typical road course.
Everything on race day happens at the airport near the bridge, including packet pickup, which is race-morning only. Parking is spread between the airport lot and the shoulder of a couple of nearby roads; the organizers ask people to carpool, and there are parking attendants to keep things moving. A post-race party follows at the finish area.
