About the Friday Night Lights 5k
The race leans into a high school football atmosphere, with runners encouraged to wear their school colors and uniforms. There is a prize for whoever shows the most spirit on the course. Food vendors and a selfie station are set up for tailgating before the start and again after, which gives the whole evening a game-night energy without anyone actually playing football.
Packet pickup happens at the tailgate area before the race starts, so you can grab your bib and get something to eat in the same spot. The start is in the evening, after the sun has dropped a bit, which helps on a summer night.
