About the Freeway 5K Run For Recovery
The race starts and finishes at Ft. Mellon Park on the waterfront in Sanford. The course is a 5K, and the event benefits Freeway Sanford, a local nonprofit supporting recovery from addiction, homelessness, and incarceration. Strollers are welcome, and chip timing is used, with results posted at the finish area the same morning.
Packet pickup happens the two days before the race at a nearby restaurant on the same street as the park, with a window midday each day. If you cannot make it, someone else can grab your packet for you without needing an ID. Free parking is available in nearby lots. Race-morning pickup opens before the start.
