About the Freedom to Move Mile
The course drops steadily downhill along Summer Street, makes a single turn, and finishes in the Town Park. It is genuinely fast by design, the kind of route where gravity does some of the work, and the finish area opens into a post-race party with a rainbow theme connected to a local nonprofit building a bike park for kids.
Parking is at the finish in the park, and the walk up to the start doubles as a warmup. Waves go off in short intervals, grouped by expected pace so faster runners clear the way before the next group starts. Dogs and strollers are welcome in the final wave.
