About the Frederick Running Festival

Four distances spread across a weekend, with everything funneling back to the fairgrounds at the finish. The fairgrounds setting gives the end of the race an open, unhurried feel, with plenty of room to move around after you cross the line. Distance options range from a short course for kids up through a half marathon and a relay option for pairs.

Common Questions About the Frederick Running Festival

Will I finish last at the Frederick Running Festival?

Almost certainly not. Half the 13.1 Miles field finished slower than 2:08:07, and the last recorded finisher came in around 3:42:05, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Frederick Running Festival a good first 13.1 Miles?

With 2,792 finishers there are runners at every pace, so you are never out on your own. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 13.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Frederick Running Festival?

The 13.1 Miles winner ran 1:11:51 while the median finisher took 2:08:07. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
