About the Freakin Freezin 5K - Phoenix

This is a winter road race in Glendale, with the organizers cheerfully acknowledging that desert snow is not exactly locked in. The course is chip-timed start to finish, and there are a few water stations spread along the route. It reads like a race that leans into the season without taking itself too seriously.

Packet pickup is on race morning, with doors opening well before the gun. The organizers may add an earlier pickup window if logistics allow, so check back as the date approaches.

Common Questions About the Freakin Freezin 5K - Phoenix

Will I finish last at the Freakin Freezin 5K - Phoenix?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 33:25, and the last recorded finisher came in around 58:54, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Freakin Freezin 5K - Phoenix a good first 5K?

It is a small race (120 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Freakin Freezin 5K - Phoenix?

The 5K winner ran 19:59 while the median finisher took 33:25. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
