About the Fort4Fitness Summer Sunrise Relay

The course is a one-mile loop on a corporate campus off Reed Road, run repeatedly over a set window of time. Teams and solo runners both take part, trading off laps or running straight through, with water stations and live entertainment posted around the route. It is held rain or shine.

Bring a tent and a cooler. The format encourages teams to set up a little base camp near the course, and that is where most of the between-laps socializing happens. Team captains register first and share a password so teammates can link up under the same name.

Common Questions About the Fort4Fitness Summer Sunrise Relay

Will I finish last at the Fort4Fitness Summer Sunrise Relay?

Almost certainly not. Half the race field finished slower than 3:55:22, and the last recorded finisher came in around 3:59:42, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Fort4Fitness Summer Sunrise Relay a good first race?

It is a small race (25 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first race, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Fort4Fitness Summer Sunrise Relay?

The race winner ran 1:12:52 while the median finisher took 3:55:22. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
