About the 2027 Fort Steilacoom Resolution Series

Fort Steilacoom Park hosts this winter series across several events, each built around the same paved loop with a short packed-trail section. The course is flat and the loop repeats for the longer distances, so you pass the aid station, with water and electrolytes, at the end of each lap. Restrooms are at the same spot, which matters on a cold morning.

Parking is inside the park, with signs pointing you toward packet pickup when you arrive. Registration can also be done that morning before the start. You can switch distances at packet pickup if your plans change, and strollers are welcome on the course. The finish line has refreshments waiting.

Common Questions About the 2027 Fort Steilacoom Resolution Series

Will I finish last at the 2027 Fort Steilacoom Resolution Series?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 30:26, and the last recorded finisher came in around 58:28, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the 2027 Fort Steilacoom Resolution Series a good first 5K?

It is a small race (135 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the 2027 Fort Steilacoom Resolution Series?

The 5K winner ran 12:49 while the median finisher took 30:26. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
