The course runs through Forest Park, one of the larger urban parks in Saint Louis, so the surroundings are open and green rather than street-heavy. The route stays on park paths, and the scenery is the main thing you notice. A kids dash runs alongside the main event, so the morning draws a wide range of ages and the start area tends to feel active and a little loose.
Packet pickup runs across two days before the race at the park's visitor center, with a shorter window on race morning at the course site. The start line is near the Dennis and Judith Jones Visitor and Education Center, which gives you a clear landmark to aim for when you arrive.
