About the 2026 Footprints on our Hearts Walk & 5K

The race and walk take place at Hubbard Park in Meriden, organized by a nonprofit that supports families grieving the loss of a pregnancy or infant. The course runs alongside a remembrance area where personalized memorial signs bearing babies' names are displayed, which gives the morning a quiet, purposeful weight that most road races do not carry.

The event is structured so that participants can take part in as much or as little as they like, from a kids fun run to the timed run to a post-event remembrance ceremony and reflective walk. The ceremony follows the run, so staying a while after you finish is very much part of what the morning is designed for.

Common Questions About the 2026 Footprints on our Hearts Walk & 5K

Will I finish last at the 2026 Footprints on our Hearts Walk & 5K?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 34:12, and the last recorded finisher came in around 56:37, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the 2026 Footprints on our Hearts Walk & 5K a good first 5K?

It is a small race (44 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the 2026 Footprints on our Hearts Walk & 5K?

The 5K winner ran 19:32 while the median finisher took 34:12. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
