The Foothills XC12K runs through the Boise Foothills out of Military Reserve, a network of dirt singletrack and open ridgeline that gives the course real bite. The climbing is genuine, the footing varies, and the views open up once you gain elevation. Proceeds support the Bogus Basin Nordic Team, so the race has a purpose behind it.
