About the Foot Pursuit 5K & Donut Dash

The race is put on by the Victoria Police Department and raises money for the Victoria Police Foundation. It starts and finishes at an event pavilion in Deleon Plaza, so you stay in one spot and the surroundings are familiar even if it is your first time. Strollers are welcome, though pets are not.

The department asks runners to get there early so the start stays on schedule. The plaza gives you a central place to settle in, and the police department connection means the event tends to run on a tight schedule.

Common Questions About the Foot Pursuit 5K & Donut Dash

Will I finish last at the Foot Pursuit 5K & Donut Dash?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 38:08, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:03:14, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Foot Pursuit 5K & Donut Dash a good first 5K?

It is a small race (186 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Foot Pursuit 5K & Donut Dash?

The 5K winner ran 21:47 while the median finisher took 38:08. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
