About the Five Points 5k

This is a neighborhood 5k rooted in Raleigh, with proceeds going to a couple of local elementary schools. The course stays in the area rather than pulling runners out to a park or greenway, so the surroundings feel genuinely local. It draws people who live nearby, which shapes the whole morning.

After the race, a health fair opens up inside the gym at the host facility, so there is somewhere to go and something to do once you cross the finish. Packet pickup and registration details are worth checking closer to race day, as pricing steps up after an early deadline.

Common Questions About the Five Points 5k

Will I finish last at the Five Points 5k?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 32:24, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:09:50, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Five Points 5k a good first 5K?

It is a small race (104 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Five Points 5k?

The 5K winner ran 17:41 while the median finisher took 32:24. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
