About the Firecracker 4 Mile / 13th Annual / Charleston
The course runs through Laurel Hill County Park on shaded trails. That canopy matters on a race held in the thick of summer heat, and the organizers are upfront about it: come hydrated, and bring extra water beyond what is on course. The terrain is trail, not pavement, so expect roots and uneven ground underfoot.
Packet pickup happens race morning at the park. The organizers specify a single entrance off the highway; check the race listing for the exact road. After the main race, there is a kids race, then music, hotdogs, and cold drinks. Proceeds support youth track and cross country programs in the state.
