About the Johnston Girls Fire Breathing Dragon Homecoming Fun Run
The course runs the trail around Terra Lake in Johnston, looping counterclockwise from the Civic Shelter. Several distance options are available, from a short sprint for young kids up through a longer run, so families tend to show up together. The trail is the main character here, the lake keeping things scenic and the loop shape meaning you end close to where you started.
Packet pickup opens at the Civic Shelter before the race, which is also the start area. The whole event runs before the Johnston Homecoming Parade kicks off, so the park fills with people sticking around to claim a good spot along the parade route afterward.
