About the Fiesta 5k Challenge - Benefiting Emory ALS Center

The race runs through Cumming City Center, a walkable mixed-use area that gives the course a clean, urban feel. The course is chip-timed and there is also a kids' fun run option, so the start area tends to draw families alongside the runners. The whole event raises money for ALS research and care, and that purpose is pretty visible in the crowd.

Packet pickup runs the afternoon before at a local running store on Bethelview Road, with race-morning pickup available at the City Center start line for those who cannot make it the day before. Parking is in the garage and surface lots right at the City Center, so you do not have to walk far to get to the start.

Common Questions About the Fiesta 5k Challenge - Benefiting Emory ALS Center

Will I finish last at the Fiesta 5k Challenge - Benefiting Emory ALS Center?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 37:19, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:06:11, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Fiesta 5k Challenge - Benefiting Emory ALS Center a good first 3.1 Miles?

A field of 210 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Fiesta 5k Challenge - Benefiting Emory ALS Center?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 17:51 while the median finisher took 37:19. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
