About the Festivus 5K Run
The race starts and finishes at a winery on Broadway in Chesterton, which gives the whole morning a different feel from a typical road race. The course is marked at every turn, and chip timing sends your result by text or email as soon as you cross the finish. Age group awards come in the form of miniature Festivus poles, which is exactly what it sounds like.
Packet pickup runs at a fitness studio in Valparaiso the couple of days before the race, with additional pickup available at the winery on race morning. Awards go out shortly after the last finisher comes in.

The Festivus 5K Run has been held every year since at least 2015. That is as far back as RunSignup's records for this race go, so it may well be older.
How we calculate these stats: RunSesh calculates these figures from the most recent published results of past editions, sourced from RunSignup. We show aggregates only: field size, winning and median times, and the cutoff. We never publish individual finisher tables. Last updated Jul 27, 2026.
