The race benefits a local crisis intervention center that runs a food pantry and shelter services.

Packet pickup runs the evening before at the Family of New Paltz building on Chestnut Street. On race morning, registration opens at Water Street Market before the start. The kids run goes first, with the main race following shortly after. No dogs on the course.

Common Questions About the Family of New Paltz 5K Turkey Trot

Will I finish last at the Family of New Paltz 5K Turkey Trot?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 31:42, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:12:03, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Family of New Paltz 5K Turkey Trot a good first 5K?

With 755 finishers there are runners at every pace, so you are never out on your own. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Family of New Paltz 5K Turkey Trot?

The 5K winner ran 15:59 while the median finisher took 31:42. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
