About the 16th Annual Faithful Friends 5K & Mutt Mile
The course runs through Bellevue State Park on a cross-country surface, so expect grass and trail underfoot rather than pavement. It is an animal shelter fundraiser, and dogs are welcome on the course, which shapes the whole morning. Food trucks and vendors set up near the finish, and there is a costume contest for dogs after the awards.
The post-race area has a pup kissing booth and a chance to meet dogs available for adoption from the organizing shelter. The event draws families with pets as much as it draws runners, so the finish line scene leans more toward a park gathering than a race staging area.
