About the Eye of the Dragon 10K & Tail of the Lizard 2 Mile
The course goes out and back over the Eau Gallie Causeway and across the Indian River, so you get open water views in both directions. It is a certified road course with real exposure on the bridge stretch, which means wind can be a factor depending on the morning. A shorter distance option covers some of the same ground for runners who want a taste without the full effort.
Packet pickup runs the two days before the race at a local running store on Wickham Road, with race-morning pickup available as well. The start area is at the Eau Gallie Civic Center. A dragon dance happens before the gun, and there is food and refreshments after. Top finishers in the combined challenge receive dragon swords as awards.

Finish-Time Stats
Going by the 2026 results, this is a decent-sized field, and the spread of finish times is wide, so this is a mostly recreational race rather than one for club runners.

The Eye of the Dragon 10K & Tail of the Lizard 2 Mile has been held every year since at least 2017. That is as far back as RunSignup's records for this race go, so it may well be older.
How we calculate these stats: RunSesh calculates these figures from the most recent published results of past editions, sourced from RunSignup. We show aggregates only: field size, winning and median times, and the cutoff. We never publish individual finisher tables. Last updated Jul 27, 2026.
