The race starts and finishes in the village of Ellicottville and heads out onto the countryside roads surrounding it. Costumes are encouraged, and enough runners show up dressed for Halloween that it becomes part of the atmosphere, though plenty of people run in regular gear too. The course takes you through rural terrain away from the village before bringing you back in.
