About the EARTH DAY DASH - 4 for 4
The route starts and finishes on a high school track and loops through town to pass each of the public schools, from the elementary level up through the intermediate and middle schools and back to the high school. It is a flat neighborhood course, and the connection to local education runs through the whole event, not just the name.
The race is a fundraiser for the local education foundation, with proceeds going toward programs at the four public schools the course visits. That purpose draws a crowd that skews toward families with kids in those schools, which shapes the mood of the morning.
