About the DV8K Life Changing Run (8K & 4K)

The course runs entirely on paved roads through the grounds of Keeneland Racecourse, a historic horse racing track on the west side of Lexington. The 8K does a couple of loops, so you pass the start area again before you are finished. The 4K is a single pass and welcomes strollers. There are a few hydration stations along the way, each hit more than once on the longer route.

Packet pickup runs the evening before the race at the DV8 Kitchen East End location, with race-morning pickup available at Keeneland as a backup. After the race, food from DV8 Kitchen is on hand. The race benefits DV8 Kitchen's vocational training program, which employs people in early recovery, and that context shapes the crowd at the finish.

Common Questions About the DV8K Life Changing Run (8K & 4K)

Will I finish last at the DV8K Life Changing Run (8K & 4K)?

Almost certainly not. Half the 4K field finished slower than 38:30, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:02:10, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the DV8K Life Changing Run (8K & 4K) a good first 4K?

It is a small race (193 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 4K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the DV8K Life Changing Run (8K & 4K)?

The 4K winner ran 16:34 while the median finisher took 38:30. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
