About the Midsummer Night's Run 5K

The course runs through downtown Lexington, heading east along East Main Street and looping back on a wide out-and-back before returning to the finish where the two courthouses face each other on Short Street. The route is mostly flat with one gradual elevation change on the main stretch. A hydration station on East Main Street catches you on the way out and again on the return.

Packet pickup runs on the two evenings before the race, and the organizers encourage picking up early rather than waiting until race day. You can grab bibs for teammates, family, or friends with no paperwork or ID needed. A last-chance pickup opens on race day at the courthouse plaza for anyone coming from out of town. A DJ and food trucks are on site at the finish.

Common Questions About the A Midsummer Night's Run 5K

Will I finish last at the Midsummer Night's Run 5K?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 33:53, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:12:42, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Midsummer Night's Run 5K a good first 3.1 Miles?

With 1,724 finishers there are runners at every pace, so you are never out on your own. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Midsummer Night's Run 5K?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 15:21 while the median finisher took 33:53. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
