About the Duo Dash 5k

The Duo Dash is a Big Brothers Big Sisters fundraiser, so the crowd skews toward mentors, kids, and families connected to the program. The course runs through Viera Regional Park, which is open and park-style terrain, and an awards ceremony follows immediately after the last runners come in.

Packet pickup the evening before is at a local running store on Wickham Road. On race morning, pickup opens at the park before the start, with a warm-up built into the schedule. There is a post-race breakfast at the finish area.

Common Questions About the Duo Dash 5k

Will I finish last at the Duo Dash 5k?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 31:52, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:04:26, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Duo Dash 5k a good first 5K?

It is a small race (134 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Duo Dash 5k?

The 5K winner ran 17:26 while the median finisher took 31:52. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
