About the Dragon Dash 5K

The course runs out and back along the Polly Ann Trail, starting and finishing at the Wildwood Amphitheater. The trail heads north toward a school administration building before turning back, so you cover the same ground twice and can see other runners coming the other direction. It is a road-certified course on a paved trail, which keeps the footing straightforward the whole way.

Race-day registration and check-in both happen at the Wildwood Amphitheater, so there is no separate location to sort out before the gun. The race benefits a local youth assistance organization, and that connection to the area gives the morning a neighborhood feel without needing to announce it.

Common Questions About the Dragon Dash 5K

Will I finish last at the Dragon Dash 5K?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 35:52, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:07:09, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Dragon Dash 5K a good first 5K?

A field of 224 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Dragon Dash 5K?

The 5K winner ran 19:59 while the median finisher took 35:52. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
