About the Downtown Visalia Kiwanis 0.5K Donut Run/Walk
This is a purposefully short race held at Mooney Grove Park, next to the Tulare County Museum. The distance is a half kilometer, and that is the whole point. There is an aid station at the halfway mark with donut holes, coffee, and juice, and a full donut waiting at the finish. The tone is set from the start: this is not a race that takes itself seriously.
A barbershop quartet performs during registration. After the run, there is a shoe-flinging competition where participants swing and kick a shoe as far as they can, with separate brackets for kids, youth, and adults. Costume entries are judged too, with a small trophy going to the best-dressed donut.
