About the Downtown Denton Turkey Trot 5K and Kids' Gobble Wobble 1K
The route passes through a university campus and loops the historic town square, so the scenery shifts as you go. It is a Thanksgiving morning race that raises money for a local food bank, and the square gives the whole thing a grounded, downtown feel rather than an out-and-back on a quiet road.
Packet pickup is the day before at a local arts council building. Runners who come early enough receive a commemorative whiskey glass. Canned food donations at the event earn raffle tickets toward gift baskets, with winners announced at the DJ booth after the race.
