The course starts in downtown Pensacola, runs through the historic district along the bayfront, and then crosses two bridges over open water before finishing on Pensacola Beach. The bridges are the defining feature: you are out over the bay and then the sound, with water on both sides and a clear view to the beach ahead. It is a point-to-point route, so there is no doubling back.
