About the Dog Days of Summer
This is a summer morning road race in Myrtle Beach that raises money for a local dog rescue. The heat is part of the deal, and the organizers lean into that rather than apologize for it. Dogs are welcome at the start area, so expect a few four-legged spectators alongside the human ones. The cause gives the morning a clear purpose beyond the finish line.
Tidal Creek Brewhouse has post-race breakfast specials afterward, which makes the recovery portion of the morning easy to plan around.

Finish-Time Stats
Going by the 2025 results, this is a small, friendly field, and the spread of finish times is wide, so this is a mostly recreational race rather than one for club runners.

The Dog Days of Summer has been held every year since at least 2025. That is as far back as RunSignup's records for this race go, so it may well be older.
How we calculate these stats: RunSesh calculates these figures from the most recent published results of past editions, sourced from RunSignup. We show aggregates only: field size, winning and median times, and the cutoff. We never publish individual finisher tables. Last updated Jul 27, 2026.
