About the Desmond Wingard Legacy 5K
The course starts outside the WSFA building on Dexter Avenue and winds through downtown Montgomery. The streets there carry a lot of history, and the route gives you a good look at the area on foot. Costumes are welcome, so the start line tends to have a Halloween feel if the timing lines up.
Proceeds from the race support a journalism scholarship endowment at Troy University, so there is a clear reason behind the entry fee. The start area on Dexter Avenue is a straightforward landmark to find in the heart of downtown.
