About the DeRidder Back Roads Half
The course takes you out of town and onto quiet rural roads, past fence lines and farm fields, with a railroad track or two crossing the path along the way. Expect twists and turns rather than a straight shot, and occasional loose dogs in the neighborhood, which the organizers try to manage ahead of race day.
Water and Gatorade are available at the finish, and there are placement awards across all distances. The roads are only secured for a limited window, so walkers should plan to keep a steady pace throughout.
