About the Day of the Dead Half Marathon - Shreveport
The course runs through parks in Bossier, weaving past lakes and stands of mature trees. The surroundings are quiet and green for most of the route, and the Day of the Dead theme means runners show up in costume, with a pre-race contest judging the most elaborate calavera looks before the field heads out.
At the finish, a rally tent hosts a post-race party with live music, a DJ, and Mexican food and drinks. Award winners are called out by name. The atmosphere at the end is genuinely celebratory, closer to a block party than a typical finish-line scene.
