About the CrossKnox 15K & 4-Miler

CrossKnox runs entirely on Knoxville's greenway system, moving through Morningside Park, along the river, through Third Creek Greenway, and finishing at Bearden Elementary. The surface is paved throughout, and the route feels more like a tour of the city's trail network than a typical road race. Both distances share stretches of the same path before converging at the finish.

Everything begins and ends at Bearden Elementary, including packet pickup and post-race refreshments. Buses carry runners from there to the start lines early in the morning, so arriving with time to spare matters. Runners who drive to the individual start areas will need to arrange their own return trip after finishing.

Common Questions About the CrossKnox 15K & 4-Miler

Will I finish last at the CrossKnox 15K & 4-Miler?

Almost certainly not. Half the 15K field finished slower than 1:24:03, and the last recorded finisher came in around 2:14:16, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the CrossKnox 15K & 4-Miler a good first 15K?

It is a small race (156 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 15K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the CrossKnox 15K & 4-Miler?

The 15K winner ran 52:50 while the median finisher took 1:24:03. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
