About the Cottonmouth 8 Mile & Beerlay
The course runs a grassy trail loop through Lakewood Nature Preserve, repeated several times. The terrain rolls with what the organizer cheerfully admits feel like bigger hills after a beer. There is shade, wildlife, and a rustic barn that anchors the start and the beer hand-off between laps. Each runner drinks a mystery brew before heading out, chosen at random from a pooled cooler.
Packet pickup opens on-site a short while before the start. After the last lap, the party moves into yard games: beer pong, cornhole, spike ball, tug of war, and a few others. Pizza can be pre-ordered ahead of time for anyone who wants a full pie waiting at the finish.

The Cottonmouth 8 Mile & Beerlay has been held every year since at least 2017. That is as far back as RunSignup's records for this race go, so it may well be older.
How we calculate these stats: RunSesh calculates these figures from the most recent published results of past editions, sourced from RunSignup. We show aggregates only: field size, winning and median times, and the cutoff. We never publish individual finisher tables. Last updated Jul 27, 2026.
