About the Costumes for a Cause for PJP Parkinson's 5k

This one runs through Sequoyah Hills, a quiet residential neighborhood in Knoxville with tree-lined streets that make for a pleasant fall course. The costume angle is genuine, not just a gimmick; it is a Parkinson's awareness event, so the crowd tends to be personal about why they are there, and the atmosphere reflects that.

Packet pickup runs the evening before at Fleet Feet, which also sponsors the race, with race-morning pickup as an alternative. Post-race refreshments are provided at the finish area.

Common Questions About the Costumes for a Cause for PJP Parkinson's 5k

Will I finish last at the Costumes for a Cause for PJP Parkinson's 5k?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 51:04, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:14:13, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Costumes for a Cause for PJP Parkinson's 5k a good first 5K?

It is a small race (130 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Costumes for a Cause for PJP Parkinson's 5k?

The 5K winner ran 18:26 while the median finisher took 51:04. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
