The course runs through Clinton Nature Preserve on trails that cross-country teams use regularly, so the ground is worn in and the route is well-marked. Expect a natural surface through wooded preserve land rather than pavement. It is a fundraiser for a local nonprofit that works with families on financial stability, so the crowd tends to include people who know the cause.

Registration and check-in open an hour before the start, and there is an optional walkthrough of the course before the gun goes off. Snacks and drinks are at the finish. An award ceremony wraps things up about an hour after the start.
