About the Cheshire Community YMCA Harvest Trail Race and Y Cup Relay

The course winds through fields and wooded trails on a historic farm property, with the start and finish at a restored barn. The terrain mixes open land with tighter trail sections, so expect some variety underfoot. It is a fall race in every sense, with the barn, the fields, and the surrounding landscape doing most of the work.

The morning runs well beyond the race itself. There is pumpkin decorating, face painting, mask making, games, and live music around the barn. A short kids' dash kicks things off before the main event. The post-race area feels more like a harvest festival than a typical finish-line setup.

Common Questions About the Cheshire Community YMCA Harvest Trail Race and Y Cup Relay

Will I finish last at the Cheshire Community YMCA Harvest Trail Race and Y Cup Relay?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 31:28, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:01:05, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Cheshire Community YMCA Harvest Trail Race and Y Cup Relay a good first 5K?

It is a small race (104 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Cheshire Community YMCA Harvest Trail Race and Y Cup Relay?

The 5K winner ran 19:54 while the median finisher took 31:28. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
