About the Chemin-A-Haut 4 Mile Trail Run and 1 Mile Walk
The course runs through Chemin-A-Haut State Park, one of the older parks in the state, on trails that trace routes used by Native Americans long before the park existed. You move through heavy forest, along a lakeshore, and beside bayou, with the kind of tree cover that keeps things cool and quiet. The terrain is genuine trail, not groomed path.
Proceeds go directly into local projects around Bastrop, so the race has a civic weight behind it. Teams are encouraged, and there are informal competitions for things like most spirited and most creatively dressed, which gives the start area a looser, more playful feel than a solo effort usually does.
