This beach run goes out along the sand to a turnaround and comes back the same way. It runs at low tide, which matters: the packed, wet sand near the water is much easier going than the loose dry stuff higher up. The race honors a local runner lost during a road race years ago, organized jointly by the track club and the runner's own family.
