About the Cedar 5K & 1 Mile

The race starts and finishes at St. Elias Maronite Catholic Church, so the surrounding neighborhood frames the whole morning. The course is USATF certified, which means the distance has been properly measured. Both the longer run and the shorter option share the same start area, and teams compete for awards based on speed, size, and spirit.

Packet pickup runs the afternoon before at the church, with the same address serving as race-day headquarters. Pets are welcome on site but must stay off the course and start area. Strollers are allowed in the shorter distance.

Common Questions About the Cedar 5K & 1 Mile

Will I finish last at the Cedar 5K & 1 Mile?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 31:56, and the last recorded finisher came in around 54:25, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Cedar 5K & 1 Mile a good first 5K?

It is a small race (163 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Cedar 5K & 1 Mile?

The 5K winner ran 20:01 while the median finisher took 31:56. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
