The course runs through the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore, so the surroundings are anything but a typical road race. The event benefits families of critically ill children, and that purpose is present in the atmosphere. Packet pickup is held the day before at the Casey Cares Foundation office in Columbia, with race-morning pickup also available. The zoo stays open after the race, and add-on admission is available if you want to walk the exhibits once you are done running.
