About the Carson Park 5 & 10/Logging Miles
Carson Park sits on a peninsula in Eau Claire, and the course winds through and around it on terrain that earns the word challenging. The longer distance uses a newer stretch of trail connecting two parks, so that route covers ground that feels genuinely removed from the streets. The race falls on Halloween, and costumes are common enough that the finish-line crowd looks like a parade.
Packet pickup runs the evening before and again early on race morning, both at the Wisconsin Logging Museum on the park grounds. After finishing, there is beer or soda at the finish, free museum tours, and train rides for kids in costume. A costume contest with gift card prizes happens mid-morning, and a short kids run follows.
