About the Carry the Fallen 5k and Half Marathon
The course runs through the Active Heroes Retreat property, mixing wooded trails with gravel roads. Most of the route stays under tree cover, so expect uneven footing and a genuine workout. The trails are peaceful but not flat or easy, and the setting gives the race a quieter, more remote feel than a typical road event.
Packet pickup opens race morning, well before the start, so there is no need to make a separate trip the day before. The race benefits a nonprofit that supports military members, veterans, and their families, and that purpose is built into the event name and feel. Post-race awards go to top finishers in each distance.
