About the 15th Annual Canby Dahlia Run

The course starts and finishes at a working dahlia farm outside Canby, and the surroundings make it unlike most road races. You run through flower fields and farmland on mostly paved roads, with a short stretch of gravel and a grass segment near the finish. It is flat enough that the scenery does most of the talking.

Parking is on a grass field at the farm, managed by venue staff, with carpooling encouraged. Packet pickup runs on several days before the race at the Canby Area Chamber office in town, with a final option at the farm the evening before. There are fresh-cut dahlias at the finish, water and light snacks, and entry to the dahlia festival on site.

Common Questions About the 15th Annual Canby Dahlia Run

Will I finish last at the 15th Annual Canby Dahlia Run?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 38:09, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:08:46, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the 15th Annual Canby Dahlia Run a good first 5K?

A field of 281 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the 15th Annual Canby Dahlia Run?

The 5K winner ran 18:23 while the median finisher took 38:09. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
