About the BVP Community Health & Wellness 5K/Kids Fun Run

The course runs through Slater Park, starting and finishing at the Daggett Farm Staging Area. Strollers and leashed dogs are welcome on the course, so the field tends to include plenty of families alongside faster runners. Younger kids have their own short run beforehand, led by a physical education instructor from the school.

Bib pickup and day-of registration open at the Daggett Farm Staging Area before the races begin. Parking fills up close to the start, and drivers who arrive late are directed to the lot near the park entrance to keep the course clear for the kids' run.

Common Questions About the BVP Community Health & Wellness 5K/Kids Fun Run

Will I finish last at the BVP Community Health & Wellness 5K/Kids Fun Run?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 45:25, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:10:08, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the BVP Community Health & Wellness 5K/Kids Fun Run a good first 5K?

It is a small race (148 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the BVP Community Health & Wellness 5K/Kids Fun Run?

The 5K winner ran 20:30 while the median finisher took 45:25. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
