About the Brooks Lake Sammamish Half Marathon

The course runs point to point along the East Lake Sammamish Trail, a fully paved path that stays flat the whole way. You are on a dedicated trail rather than open roads, with the lake nearby for much of the route. It draws both runners and walkers, and the generous time limit on the walk category means the back of the field has room to move at its own pace.

The race is cupless, so bring a handheld bottle or a hydration pack. A reusable cup is available at the start if you forget. Aid stations are spread along the course at reasonable intervals.

Common Questions About the Brooks Lake Sammamish Half Marathon

Will I finish last at the Brooks Lake Sammamish Half Marathon?

Almost certainly not. Half the 13.1 Miles field finished slower than 2:03:15, and the last recorded finisher came in around 4:07:21, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Brooks Lake Sammamish Half Marathon a good first 13.1 Miles?

With 2,594 finishers there are runners at every pace, so you are never out on your own. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 13.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Brooks Lake Sammamish Half Marathon?

The 13.1 Miles winner ran 1:06:49 while the median finisher took 2:03:15. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
