About the Brookfield Lions Strides to Cure Diabetes 5-Miler
The course runs along the shoreline of Candlewood Lake, which keeps the scenery working for you the whole way. The route is flat, so there is nothing to manage except pace, and the lake stays in view for most of the run. It is a Lions Club fundraiser tied to diabetes awareness, which gives the morning a purposeful feel without changing what the running itself is like.
Race-morning registration opens on-site before the start, so you can show up without having signed up in advance. Age group prizes and cash awards go to top finishers in several categories, including masters and anyone who breaks a course record.
