About the Break Your Neck: Walk, Run, or Roll

This race in Pueblo started as one person's way back to running after a serious spinal cord injury left him relearning how to walk. It grew into something the whole city shows up for. The course finishes inside the Thunderbowl, which gives the final stretch a weight you can feel. Walking, running, and rolling are all equally welcome here, and the entry is free.

The race supports spinal cord injury research, a nursing scholarship at a local university, and adaptive equipment for disabled veterans. Those causes are baked into the event itself, not just a banner at the finish. The post-race atmosphere reflects that: this is a crowd that came with something to prove, and the energy at the end shows it.
